Jackson (2015),\u00a0<i>JBIS<\/i>,\u00a0<b>68<\/b>, pp.342-346<\/h3>\n<p><b>Refcode<\/b>: 2015.68.342<\/p>\n<p><b>Abstract:<\/b><br \/>\nThis paper describes a beacon that uses laser transmitters and a non-rotating black hole as a beacon deployed by an advanced civilization. The idea that advanced civilizations may seek a way to communicate in optimum ways (Benford and Benford, 2010 [3]) has been put forward in recent times. In what manner could a civilization use a gravitational lens to augment laser transmitters used as a beacon? It is shown that an infrared laser transmitter of one Watt can reach a range of at least one kilo parsec when there is a caustic crossing on the optical axis.
