Abstract:

A significant number of new missions which either utilise optical instrumentation or involve microgravity experimentation have been discussed and designed over the past decade. These missions will typically require pointing accuracies on the order of subarcradians for optical observations and accelerations on the order of 10 (6) g’s for microgravity. These requirements have resulted in a new field of study in spacecraft dynamics called “microdynamics”.
