Abstract:

The current catch-phrase of the aerospace industry – ‘faster, better, cheaper’- represents political and economic necessity as much as good engineering design. While industry as a whole struggles lo implement this “new” strategy in the wake or the post-cold war draw clown. the University of Surrey has been preaching this philosophy all along. Over the last fourteen years, University or Surrey satellites (UoSAT) have shown that small , reliable satellites can be built and operated at costs an order or magnitude less than you would find in the mainstream aerospace industry.
