Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to make the case for the revival of feasibility studies in Europe of a Small Space Shuttle. Several such studies were carried out in the 1960’s under EUROSPACE auspices. This work is summarized in reference [1]. from which a representative sample of the projects studied has been extracted and shown in fig. 1. These projects did not get beyond the feasibility study stage. However, there have since been advances which, it is suggested, have both increased the need for a Small Shuttle and made such a vehicle easier to develop.
