Abstract:

More and more information is being placed on the Internet and it is becoming easier for people to access that information via technologies such as the World Wide Web (WWW). Unfortunately, access to this world is difficult for a newcomer. It seems littered with acronyms and discussions on bandwidth, back-bones and response times. This article attempts to explain some of the basic technology and shows how increasing numbers of people will be able to access space-related data from either their office or home personal computer. After all, space missions are expensive and the data they produce should be made as widely available as possible so that more people can examine that data.
