Abstract:

The Earth Observation Data Centre (EODC) at Farnborough, England, was initially conceived to meet the requirements or both the European Space Agency (ESA) and the United Kingdom (UK) for the processing and archiving of data and products derived from the ERS- 1 satellite. Throughout the EODC development phase many changes in requirements occurred, not all of which could be accommodated in the development contract. This has meant that the EODC facility, as accepted from the Facilities Contractors required a number of modifications in order to be able to fully exploit the satellite data it was required to receive.
