Abstract:
It is often assumed that we and any alien race we contact will share a great deal of mathematics. Our purpose here is to examine that assumption in some detail. Since we certainly share the same physical universe it seems reasonable that we will most likely share mathematics that is applicable to problems of physics and astronomy.
