Abstract:

The past several years have seen many radio astronomy searches for evidence of other intelligent beings in the universe. The most publicised of these was the ill-fated NASA High Resolution Microwave Survey (HRMS). After may years of struggling for funding and planning for the project, it was officially begun on October 12, 1992. NASA HRMS was on line for only a little over 11 months when it was abruptly discontinued by the Congress of the United States.
