Abstract:

An orbital stream of metal grains passing through the solenoid of a space vehicle wiU1 a relative speed can be used as a rail for the magnetic acceleration and the orbital transfer of the vehicle after release by the stream [1,2]. Under gravitational and magnetic interactions, the stream of grains is swelled as it crosses the solenoid’s field and the vehicle is reactively accelerated counter-stream (“magnetic shepherding”).
