Abstract:
By the spring of 1962, CORONA, America’s first reconnaissance satellite, had proven itself an indispensable and unequaled component of the U.S. intelligence effort. After a year-and -a-half of successful operation, the satellite had provided American intelligence analysts with photographs that had allowed them to assess and revise the overall strength of Soviet military capabilities.
