Abstract:

Telespazio is among the pioneers of commercial satellite communications. The Company was established in 1961 with the specific purpose of introducing and developing within Italy the latest technology arising from the first ventures in space. In the very early stage of satellite communications, Telespazio participated with other international telecommunication entities in efforts which led to the creation of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organisation (INTELSAT) and it was among the 11 founding members of the Interim Organisation, established in 1964, for the implementation, management and operation of a single global satellite communications system.
