Panspermia, the migration of life between solar systems by natural or technological means, may allow the spread of life in the galaxy. Some fifteen years ago we proposed that the present civilisation possesses both the solar sail technology and the ethical reasons for seeding nearby solar systems with life, possibly the cosmically most consequential human endeavour.
