Abstract:

Although many possibilities have been considered for the commercial development of space, few projects have lived up to the expectations set for space industrialization, in the 1970’s, when it was believed that the Space Shuttle would substantially reduce the cost of transportation to orbit and enable the creation of large-scale orbital factories and solar energy platforms in space.
