Abstract:

For over three decades the Air Force has led efforts to expand satellite cornmunication (SATCOM) capabilities for military use. From Advent in the early 1960s to Milstar in the 1990s, the Air Force has provided launch vehicles, supporting infrastructure, and most of the communications satellites for the defense community.
