Abstract:

THE GROWING PRESSURE OF telecommunications (TLC) traffic in the past few years has made us realise that we must use the Geostationary Orbit, which we may consider as a natural resource, as efficiently as possible. The available physical space in this orbit is ample yet the spacing between adjacent satellites has a lower limit, defined under international rules, dictated by interference between ground stations illuminating contiguous satellites, as well as satellites interfering with other ground stations.
