Abstract:
The space environment includes a variety of elements that are potentially hazardous to spacecraft materials and electronic components. Examples are:
(1) Ionizing radiation (electrons, protons, heavy ions and UV)
that
(a) changes the properties of electronic devices,
(b) induces single event upsets (SEU) and latchups (SEL)
(c) effects the properties of exposed materials.
