Abstract:
Gusev crater, with 160 km diameter, emerged 3 to 4 billion years ago due to the collision of an immense asteroid with the Martian surface. This enormous crater is situated around the boundary between the southern highlands and northern lowlands. In the south of this impact crater, Ma’adim Vallis, as a flu- vial system 900 km long, directly enters into the crater (Fig. 1). By leaving a deep cut in the southern highlands, this fluvial system has flowed from the southern towards the northern hemisphere and reached to Gusev crater [1].
