Abstract:

The NASA Space Telescope (ST) is one of the most ambitious projects presently planned in space astronomy, and following its December 1983 launch it will provide a great impetus to astronomical research for the rest of this century. A general description of the Space Telescope and its astronomical applications can be obtained from the proceedings of a recent conference devoted to that topic.
