Abstract:

Telescience describes a mode of payload operations whereby users can control interactively their experiment payload in space on-board the Columbus Space Station elements, in particular the Attached Pressurised Module (APM) and the Man Tended Free Flyer (MTFF). They can receive data and send control signals while on-line through an operational infrastructure that includes the on-board Data Management System (DMS); the space segment incorporating Data Relay Satellites (DRS); and the ground segment including Payload Operation Coordination Centres (POCC’s) command and data links as shown in fig. 1.
