Abstract:

Human thinking about the future and new ideas tend to be governed by paradigms – inner models or how to interpret, stereotypes of what to expect and linear extrapolations of what can be. Creativity describes the human act of overcoming this constraining tendency. The Horizon Mission Methodology is a systematic analytical tool both for creating a new paradigm (or frame of reference) and then thinking within it. The HMM provides a versatile means to step mentally outside existing paradigms to ‘see’ from new ones. It has been shown to generate powerful new insights where a mission, problem or issue is highly complex or stymied.
