Abstract:

The Royal Ordnance Rocket Motors Division at Westcott, known to many under the two longest lived of its eight previous titles; Rocket Propulsion Establishment (RPE), and Propellants Explosives and Rocket Motor Establishment, (PERME) has originated and contributed to the development of rocket engines for both civil and military space applications for many years. Probably the best known of these developments is the range of solid propellant rocket motors that are presently utilised on the BAe Skylark sounding rockets.
