Abstract:
WE COULD BEGIN TODAY to plan a manned research station for the Martian surface. The technology exists. The missing elements are motivation and money to begin such a project. In this paper we have attempted a synthesis of several existing technologies (in what we hope is a novel way) to demonstrate that ingenuity can go a long way in stretching the utility of such technologies in space applications for the near future.
