Abstract:

The use of expendable launch vehicles for a “Return to the Moon Program” – such as SATURN V – would involve the prohibitive cost of more than 80 000 $/Kg(96) for the one-way cargo transfer, or about 10 times the specific transportation cost from Earth to LEO. For the round -trip payload (i.e. a crew cabin) the specific cost would be even 10 times higher (800 000$/Kg), or 600 M $(96) per person if related to a crew of two.
