Abstract:

A paper by Maccone [1] proposes that the Levi-Civita solution of the Einstein equation in the presence of a uniform magnetic field might form a “wormhole” suitable for interstellar travel. The geometry of this solution is examined in detail and it is concluded that, while the solution has interesting properties, it does not form a wormhole.
