Abstract:

The VICAR image processing system, as implemented by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Appleton Laboratory, represents a large software investment of hundreds of man-years. This software was implemented on IBM 360 computers. If it could be easily implemented on other ranges of computers (i.e., if it could be made portable), this would give users a valuable flexibility in hardware choice when they come to implement a new or modified image processing system and wish to use VICAR software.
