Abstract:

Mercury is the innermost planet of our solar system but knowledge about the planet is presently limited to Earth-based telescopic and Mariner 10 fly-by data. Most questions about the planet are still unanswered clue to the incomplete coverage and low ground resolution of data provided by Mariner 10 and restricted observation conditions from Earth (i.e. solar interference). Many fundamental questions are raised, not only of comparative planetology but also about the origin and formation processes of our solar system.
