Abstract:

Solar sails have been a subject of intensive study over the last several decades. Among the earliest investigators were Tsander and Garwin. These initial investigations were concerned with travel in the solar system. Later, Matloff and Mallove proposed using solar sails for interstellar travel and have continued to study this to the present.
