Abstract:
Flight 55 of the NASA Space Transportation System (STS-55) was the second manned Space Shuttle mission under German mission management and responsibility. The payload operations co-ordination and control of this so-called D-2 mission was done in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich where the German Space Operations Center is located as a part of the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt fur Luft- und Raumfahrt e. V. (DLR).
