Abstract:

This paper gives a review of the physical characteristics and genes is of the Alamo Breccia and related features, together with new estimations of the Alamo impact structure size based on conodont microfossils recently recovered from impact ejecta debris. The Alamo Breccia is a spectacular carbonate megabreccia unit of early Late Devonian age that is widespread over much of southern Nevada, within the Great Basin province of western USA. Currently recognised within at least 16 mountain ranges, the breccia is distributed in a semi-circular pattern – 200 km in diameter.
