Abstract:

With the launch of the first clement of the International Space Station (ISS) in late 1997, the United States, Japan, Europe, Canada, and Russia will begin an unprecedented level of international cooperation in space. The launch of the U.S. Funded FGB (Russian acronym for Functional Cargo Block) in November 1997, constitutes the first of a planned eleven Russian assembly launches during the period from 1997-2002. In addition to these flights, Russia will also deliver crew and logistics resupply to the station during this period, and is also responsible for the critical propellant resupply and reboost function.
