Abstract:
SETI, (Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) is actually, in a broader sense, the search for electromagnetic waves which could be emitted by some powerful enough extraterrestrial technology, be these even only as leaks from astro-engineering works undertaken by an underlying form of some cosmic ‘advanced’ life. In a most interesting particular case, it could be the search for messages sent to us by an alien civilisation, but it needs not be so. Detecting any artificial waves would prove de facto that advanced life is common in the universe.
