Abstract:

A space station is defined here as an artificial body in space, occupied on a long term, even permanent, basis. It is intended to be a site for living and working. Activities may include work within the station, immediately adjacent to it, observation of Earth, Sun and other bodies and the provision of services, including service as a final or intermediate travel terminal. It is thus a multiple purpose concept and certainly not small.
