Abstract:
PROJECT DAEDALUS [1] indicates that a starship is theoretically possible, and that it could even be practicable in terms of the technology likely to be available by the turn of the century. So if advances in this field were to continue at a steady rate, it seems possible that many nearby stars could be visited during the next few hundred years.
