Abstract:
A centennial interstellar space exploration program is certain to stimulate interest in young scientists and researchers around the world. At the same time such an intense schedule of scientific testing, research and development would require trained experts in a multitude of space systems and engineering practices. In this paper we present an analysis of the long term impact of a prestigious multidisciplinary study program in Interstellar Engineering on space research and development. The curriculum design philosophy is presented along with estimates of the employability of these new graduates, which are found to be highly employable to a wide range of industries and research directions. This paper is a submission of the Project Icarus Study Group.
