Abstract:

The first lunar space transportation system comprising the SATURN V launch vehicle and the APOLLO spacecraft, 1968 to 1972, was an expendable space transportation system. Its only purpose was to demonstrate the feasibility of crewed lunar flight before the USSR would do so. Due to the urgency of program, there was no chance to develop at that time a reusable system for this mission.
