Abstract:
Western specialists of the former-Soviet Union’s space programme have tended to concentrate their talents with commentating on the programmes undertaken by the Korolyov and Chelomei design bureaus. A third major satellite and launch vehicle design bureau was operating in Dnepropetrovsk, the Ukraine and was originally headed by Mikhail Yangel. An official history of the bureau giving details of its missile and space work has been published primarily as an internal document, but a copy has reached England and forms the basis of this paper.
