Abstract:

We have already entered into a new era of space research and application, in which the use of space in many ways is being treated as a normal commercial venture and we are beginning to move into an evolutionary phase in which a wider spectrum of industrial organisations in the world will become involved, either as suppliers or users. The fact that these applications of space technology are with us and are extending, is well known to many people in the world, but the extent to which this industrialisation process is beginning to influence our affairs is perhaps not so well recognised.
