Abstract:

Why has the universe been set up with the remarkable coincidences which have enabled life to take place? One possibility is that there are many Universes with different values for the fundamental constants. Another is an inflationary situation where there are numbers of different bubble universes in which each situation is different and in one, or a few, of which life becomes possible. Another possibility is that the universe goes through cycles, the constants have different values and one of these allows for life.
