Abstract:
The Mark III Front End Controller (FEC) is a computing subsystem for use in ground stations. The primary function of the FEC is to monitor and control the operation of a number of devices (the front end equipment), used in tl1e acquisition and maintenance or a communications link with a spacecraft. Typical front end equipment (FEE) under control of the FEC are the ground station antenna, synthesisers, high power amplifiers, tracking receiver, downconvertors and test equipment.
