Abstract:

While the policy of glasnost has opened many a window on the civilian Soviet space programme, the photoreconnaissance programme has continued to be generally shrouded in secrecy. Soviet literature issued in connection with attempts to market their Foton microgravity and Resurs-F microgravity and remote sensing payloads have allowed glimpses of the third generation photoreconnaissance satellite designs, but there are no clues as to the appearance of and operations with the forth and fifth generation satellites.
