Abstract:
As well as historical value there would be scientific interest in the fate of materials after decades in the Martian environment, as well as in comparative studies in how Martian conditions change with time at fixed sites. Legal issues surrounding ownership of these probes, and agreements on their fate, should be resolved before any such expeditions are attempted.
