Abstract:
Since before the dawn of the space age, mankind has dreamed of settling the solar system. That such a dream might become reality has been evident since at least 1969, when Neil Armstrong left the first footprints on the lunar surface. Yet, when US President George Bush announced plans to return to the Moon and visit Mars, the $500 billion dollar price tag placed on the mission by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) ended hopes of political support for the plan.
