Abstract:

The Gosling rocket motor was, arguably, the most important boost motor in the armoury of the British Defence System throughout tl1e 1950s and 1960s. The grounds for this statement lie in the fact that Gosling provided the boost propulsion for the three major defence weapons of the era, namely

1. Bloodhound for the Royal Air Force
2. Sea Slug for the Royal Navy
3. Thunderbird for tl1e British Army.
