Abstract:
Simulations are used extensively at both U1e German Space Operations Centre (Oberfaffenhofen, Germany) and the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) for TT&V of the on-ground systems and operations associated with the spacecraft. In essence, the simulator reacts in a realistic manner to commands generated by the on-ground systems and generates realistic telemetry based on this reaction in order to close the loop with the on-ground systems. The telemetry generated is identical in format to that received by the real spacecraft, and the contents are dependent on the reality of the simulator.
